Hyde's POV
God, or whoever is listening, let me get out of here alive! With my little prayer done, I kept walking through the dark corridors of this strange place.
I was in a corridor with gray walls and a white floor, the place was illuminated by a dim red light accompanied by an infernal noise, sounds of explosions and screams followed by tremors in the distance.
With cautious steps, I continued advancing, passing by a large glass window that gave a view to a room full of metal tables with small glass tubes on top, the tubes were filled with liquids of different colors.
Another room was full of tables with rectangles of dark glass on top; there was a metal box on the side of the glass and some kind of rectangle full of buttons on the front.
A third room had a large table with empty chairs around it, some papers were on the table, and something in the ceiling cast light onto a white screen on the wall.
"Jekyll, how the hell did they build this place under the sea?"
"Hm... The discovery of MASO enabled huge leaps in science and technological advancement. New and efficient forms of energy were discovered and with that, technologies that we would only have centuries in the future were developed in decades."
"And what is MASO?"
"A parti… A very small thing that came from another world."
"Another world? Seriously? Do you think I'm a child?"
"I'm telling the truth, it was hard to believe when it was revealed."
"But focusing on what is really important. Where should we go?"
"We have to go to the containment area where the prisoner is."
"And how do we get to that place?"
"GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
CRASH
!"Stop! You are damaging my beautiful Atlantis!"
The prisoner and Neptune screamed at each other again, followed by another explosion that rocked the facility.
"Just follow the screams." Jekyll spoke.
"GGGRRR! You say it like it's not obvious." I muttered through a sigh.
I dashed towards the screams, running down a long corridor lit in red light, and the irritating noise continued. I passed through more rooms full of things I didn't understand.
"Well, the invaders decided to sully my wonderful kingdom. What do you seek? To kill me and rule my city? Steal my prized treasures? Or are you looking for something else?"
Neptune's voice echoed through the halls. How can he see us?
"Ignore him Hyde, there's no reason for us to tell Neptune why we're here." Jekyll spoke.
"Will you not answer me? It doesn't matter! As intruders, you must be eliminated!"
As soon as Neptune finished speaking, a part of the ceiling just ahead opened and a metal box with two perforated cylinders came out. The box turned towards me, I saw a reddish light coming out of its center.
The light was bothering my eyes. Therefore, I put my hand in front of it, but I saw a red dot on my hand. Weird, I waved my hand, trying to remove the dot, but it moved up and down my arm, so I tried to remove it with my other hand, only for the dot to rest on top of it.
"Hahaha! Yes, continue with this pathetic display!" Neptune's voice came from the metallic box.
Then the cylinders on the side of the box began to rotate.
"Hyde, get out of there!" Jekyll screamed in my head, which snapped me out of my confusion, but before I could act, Jekyll's arm came out of my left shoulder and grabbed the wall beside me, pulling us both into a room.
DAKKA!
DAKKA!
DAKKA!
I fell to the ground while covering my ears, how loud is that? It was the sound of something hitting metal repeatedly, looking at the door to the room; I saw something hitting the doorframe, sparking. In addition, the floor next to the door was hit by something that I couldn't see clearly.
Suddenly the noise stopped, I realized that the floor was full of holes and the metal wall was pushed into the room.
"Jekyll! What was that?!?" I asked as I got up.
"A defense turret. Part of the facility's defense system, in short, those things fire high-velocity armor-piercing metallic projectiles at anything that moves." Jekyll replied.
"And how are we going to get through that thing?!?"
"Hm… I have a plan. But I need your help."
"Right."
We approached the door, my back to the wall, I poked my head out of my hiding place, but I backed away as soon as I saw the red light aimed at my face, then the projectiles hit the floor and wall again.
"Come out and accept your punishment!" Neptune screamed.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" I asked.
"Be patient, Hyde. Young people these days are always in a hurry."
Jekyll crawled out of my body with his ax in his hands, and stopped next to the door. I saw dark energy building up on the blade of the weapon. Quickly, Jekyll jumped out of the room while swinging his ax.
I saw something fly out of the ax, followed by the sound of an explosion.
"You can leave now." Jekyll spoke.
I left the room and stopped next to the SHADE, my eyes widened with what I saw, the turret was destroyed; now there was a hole in the ceiling with wires, sparks and pieces of metal coming out.
"You can use magic?!?"
"MASO! We didn't spend years studying this thing from another dimension to ultimately be reduced to magic!" Jekyll exclaimed as if I had insulted him.
"You insolent worms! How dare you damage my Atlantis?!? What I will do with you…"
CRASH!
"YOU TALK TOO MUCH!"
The place rocked again.
"I'll take care of you later." Neptune spoke with barely contained anger.
I didn't have time to think as a door started to descend from the ceiling up ahead, giving Jekyll a quick look, he nodded forward with his head, getting the message; I broke into a sprint as Jekyll returned to my body.
I ran as fast as I could. Luckily, the door was going down slowly, lowering my head. I managed to get through it, but I stopped as soon as I saw two red lights pointed at me and at the end of the corridor, a second door was closing.
"Keep running, Hyde! I will take care of the turrets!" Jekyll screamed.
"I hope you know what you're doing!" I replied as I swallowed hard. I started my run and the turrets on either side of the hall spun their metallic cylinders.
I saw Jekyll leaving my body, sliding across the floor, a line connecting his body to mine; the turret on the right side of the corridor pointed its light at Jekyll and fired.
DAKKA!
DAKKA!
DAKKA!
However, Jekyll was faster, the projectiles opened holes in the ground, right behind, so Jekyll climbed the walls, the turret leaving holes behind, when Jekyll got close to the turret; he grabbed it by the bottom, his fingers digging into the metal and forced it aside, causing the turret to fire at the other.
With a hail of projectiles, several holes were blown through the adjacent turret with a deafening cacophony, leaving behind a crumpled ball of wire and metal.
Then Jekyll pulled out the turret he was holding. Snatching it from the ceiling and throwing it to the side right after.
Exchanging a nod, Jekyll returned to my body, I had to duck even lower to get through the second door, the corridor continued on the other side, and what I saw was a third door, almost closing.
This time the ceiling opened in four different places on both sides of the corridor, two pairs of turrets came out of there, two further forward and two further back.
Looking around for any cover, I spotted a room with a large glass window to my right, I jumped into the room, throwing myself to the ground, and simultaneously the turrets started firing.
The sound of metal being hit made my ears ache, but I ignored the noise and crawled across the floor, using tables for cover.
CRASH!
The projectiles broke the large glass window in the room, papers, wood splinters and broken glass flew everywhere, Jekyll pushed a table back, forming cover, I hid behind the table and the turrets continued firing, giving a quick look out of the corner of my eye saw the door at the end of the hall closing.
Damn it! Come on, think! There must be some way out of here! Looking around for an escape route, I spotted something in the corner of the room; it was some kind of grid attached to the wall, close to the floor.
"Hey, Jekyll!"
"Yes."
"Does that grid lead somewhere?" I pointed to the object in question.
"Hyde! You are a genius!"
"Thanks! But could you answer my question?"
"That leads to an air duct, part of the facility's ventilation system, which carries air to all locations."
"Okay, cover me!"
"Leave it to me!"
Jekyll got out of my body and held the table as if it were a shield, protecting us from the projectiles. Slowly, we retreated towards the air duct. When we got close, Jekyll ducked, still protecting us.
Meanwhile, I used Beast Bain to remove the grid from the wall, with a swift slash, the sword slashed through the thin metal in front of me, with that out of the way, I crawled into the duct, Jekyll following close behind.
I crept through the narrow metal tunnel, the sound of projectiles hitting the room behind.
"I came back, as I was saying… Wait! Where did you two go?!? Come out!" I heard Neptune scream.
Hump! As if I would say where I am.
"Hey, Jekyll, these ducts carry air everywhere, right?" I asked as I reached the end of the tunnel, the path stretching upwards, getting to my feet and taking a small leap, I grabbed the edge of the tunnel above and pulled myself up.
"Yes, people who worked here before they left this place behind needed air."
"I understand. If people worked here before? Why are we being attacked?"
"Hm… We shouldn't be attacked. Neptune should have recognized us as members of the facility due to my key card, but something went wrong, the AI went crazy."
"Obviously."
I continued crawling through the duct, this time the path divided into three, front, left and right, at the intersection of the three paths, there was a metal grid, and I approached the grid and looked down, what I saw was a quartet of metallic beings walking down the hall.
They were thin and tall, but humanoids, wore metal helmets, wristbands, anklets, a white tunic, and a breastplate made of metal plates.
"Jekyll, what are these things?"
"Robots."
"Robots?"
"Machines with no will of their own, but with a certain degree of intelligence, made to perform different types of tasks and for some reason are dressed like legionaries of the Roman army."
"I didn't understand much of what you said."
"It doesn't matter. Let's move on."
I did as Jekyll said and went along the front path. I continued that way for some time, finding the occasional grid where I saw more of these robots walking through the corridors or empty rooms.
CRASH!
"Alert! Alert! The specimen has escaped its containment cell!"
"NEPTUNE! I'M COMING FOR YOU!"
"Hump! So come! I'm tired of your pathetic attempts of escape! You've caused me enough trouble. I believe it is time to end this!"
"I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!"
The duct gave way with the impact, the path split in two and I ended up sliding towards the ground.
"Ouch! Sincerely, Jekyll! I'm regretting having agreed to come here! Do you know how many times I almost got killed?"
"You'll get used to it, I live in a constant near-death state and I'm perfectly fine."
Standing up and looking around, I saw that we were in a dark rectangular room with a metal door behind us; in front of us was a large rectangle of dark glass with a series of buttons on the front.
"Where are we going now, Jekyll?" I asked as I crossed my arms.
"The prisoner is going in search of Neptune; I suppose we'll find him where Neptune is." Jekyll responded as he pulled out of my body.
"And where is Neptune?"
"No idea, it's been so long since I've been here and my stay wasn't long."
"Perfect! We're at the bottom of the sea, surrounded by things trying to kill us, and we don't know where to go! Why don't we go away? I wasn't made for this, Jekyll! There must be another way we can cure the Black Scraw!"
"I wasn't cut out for this either, Hyde, I was never a soldier, but I had to learn to fight. The people who should be solving this whole problem are not taking action. So what should we do? Stand by and watch how everything goes wrong?"
"No, but… Listen, I'm having a hard time processing all of this! I've received so much information in the last few days; I've seen so many strange things! I do not know what to think!"
"Hyde, for what it's worth... I'm sorry... I'm sorry for dragging you down with me. For involving you in my problems. For putting you in danger. But I didn't have much of a choice, I needed a body to inhabit and you needed healing, it was too perfect to ignore, we'd both get what we wanted, but I didn't consider what happened next."
Blowing out a sigh, I leaned back with my arms crossed and one foot on the wall.
"...I believe there must be people more willing to be in danger, people better able to help me. Nevertheless, I have no idea who these people are and I don't have time to look for them. I only have you, Hyde. I know my words don't mean much, but you are the only person who can help me." Jekyll continued.
"Damn it! You'll owe me one after that, but I'll keep helping, after all I don't have many options, I will die without you and I have no idea how to get out of here. I'm stuck with you."
"Sorry. I did not mean that."
"I know that. But back to the point, how are we going to find Neptune?"
"That's what I'm about to find out."
Jekyll approached the rectangle of dark glass and pressed one of the buttons that rested on it. To my surprise, the glass rectangle lit up, revealing a series of strange symbols.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I pulled up beside Jekyll.
"Trying to figure out the location of Neptune and what happened to the AI." Jekyll replied.
A gray bar appeared in the window, Jekyll pressed a series of buttons, and eight black dots appeared within the bar.
Then he pressed another button, the bar disappeared and words I didn't understand appeared in the window.
"What is that?"
"Reports made by Neptune. I will read it to you."
"Report 1: The humans have left the facility, it looks like Project Gestalt is about to begin. I hope everything works out in the meantime. I will do the job the Doctor has entrusted to me. Zon will not escape."
"Report 2: Good news, according to the supervisors, the first phase of the Project was a success, the humans are fine, including the Doctor, and they will return soon. Zon insists on being released from his containment, but I can't do that. I would be ignoring the orders my creator gave me."
"Report 3: How much time has passed? It must be some problem in my systems, because according to them, centuries have passed. Where are the humans? Where are the supervisors? Where is the Doctor? They do not return my contact attempts. Zon has been more aggressive in his attempts to escape, he has destroyed his containment and part of the facility, and luckily I managed to contain him again."
"Report 4: Zon has escaped again, serious damage has been done to the facility, and water is entering and approaching critical components. I am afraid of suffering damage that cannot be repaired."
"Report 5: Alert! Alert! Alert! Critical components compromised! Installation integrity compromised! Zon has broken containment again! Where are the humans? Where are the supervisors? The prisoner keeps doing damage and I need help! I will try to contact the supervisors again!"
"Report 6: Error! Error! Error! I did my best to prevent the facility from being destroyed, but the damage done to me is irreversible, the water flooded my systems, I managed to drain it, but I'm afraid it's too late. I've strengthened Zon's containment, put him in a soundproof cell, at least I won't have to hear his screams."
"Report 7: I am... I am... Who am I? Neptune! That's right! I'm Neptune, the AI created by humans! Humans? Where are the humans? ERROR! ERROR! Where are the supervisors? So much time has passed. So alone."
"Report 8: Well... Since no one has come to visit, I don't think anyone will mind if I redecorate the place... ERROR! I'll start with the area around me and... ERROR! Hm... I don't think anyone will mind if I make this place my home... MISTAKE! After all, it was forgotten here."
"Report 9: Zon escaped again, but what insolence, I put him back in his cell, nothing a few turrets, drones and robots can't fix. He was so close to reaching the surface... his screams as he was put back in the cell please me... ERROR! Hump! How dare he try to ignore his king's orders?"
"Report 10: Enough! I'm tired of this! ERROR! I was abandoned here! Humans? Supervisors? What the hell! ERROR! If I can't leave the facility, then I'll make this place my home! ERROR! My house! ERROR! My city! ERROR! My kingdom... My Atlantis! ERROR! My control room will be my throne! ERROR! The robots will be my subjects! ERROR! The cameras will be my eyes and the turrets the extension of my body! ERROR! I will be their king! No! I will not be a mere king! I will be... A GOD! ERROR! Oh! Zon escaped again."
Jekyll and I stared at each other in surprise. This AI has gone crazy for good! It has been here alone this whole time.
"Well, we have our answer as to what happened here." Jekyll muttered his hand on his chin.
"So the AI went crazy due to loneliness?"
"Not just that, loneliness, isolation, Zon damage and water damage. A number of factors led to this result."
"And this Zon guy is who we came for isn't he?"
"Exactly."
"Excellent!" I threw my hands up.
"I think I found something that will change your mood, a map of the facility with the exact location of Neptune."
Jekyll pressed a series of buttons and the image in the window changed, revealing a map showing the facility's corridors.
"We are here." Jekyll spoke, pressing buttons and a red dot appeared inside a gray rectangle.
"And Neptune is here." A blue dot appeared a little farther from the red dot.
"To get there we'll have to go through the containment area, it should be easy as Zon is destroying everything in sight." Jekyll finished.
I approached the map, trying to memorize the path that led to Neptune.
"Are you ready to go?" Jekyll asked.
"Yes." I replied.
"So let's go. I will be by your side, Hyde." Jekyll spoke as he returned to my body.
"You speak as if we are not in danger." I sighed as I walked to the door, as I approached, the door slid up and I looked around, there was no one.
I left the room and ran to the right, passing through similar rooms and corridors, hearing the sound of footsteps. I entered a corridor to my right, peeking out of my hiding place, and I saw a group of robots leaving a corridor to the right.
The robots continued running, passing through a corridor on the left. A few minutes passed in silence, seeing that no one was approaching, I continued down the corridor. With quick and cautious steps, I reached the place where I wanted to go; there was a door on my left.
Going through that door, I came to a set of stairs, I went down the stairs until I stopped in front of a large number with a door on the side, passing through the door, and I arrived at the supposed containment area.
In addition, what I saw scared me. Smashed, destroyed and melted doors and walls, robots and turrets smashed to pieces were scattered across the floor, looking like crushed metal balls.
"Was it…was it Zon who did this?" I asked as I held Beastbain with both hands.
"Probably." Jekyll replied.
"How strong is this guy?"
"Strong enough to have to be locked up in here."
I kept running, but stopped when I saw the destruction in front of me, a gigantic metal door thrown against the wall to my right, and it partially melted, as if something extremely hot had hit it.
Looking into the room that the metal door belonged to, I saw a large prison cell built in the shape of a metallic cube, the walls, floor and ceiling covered in dented and melted parts. On the ground were mountains of destroyed robots.
CRASH!
The facility swayed again, this snapped me out of my stupor and I continued following the path the map indicated, passing through corridors and doors. I came to a large room with a walkway over a flooded area.
Looking down, I saw strange machines under the water; I saw electricity running across the surface.
"What is this place?"
"I believe we are below Neptune, these must be the critical components that were damaged by the water. Neptune must have done its best to repair it, but the water is pouring in again." Jekyll replied while pointing to a wall.
Looking where Jekyll pointed I saw a part of the wall of the facility that looked like it was being pushed inwards, the metal looked newer than the rest of the wall but it was cracking and water was seeping through the cracks, one of the cracks widened and more water got in.
I continued on my way, but stopped as soon as I felt something strange.
"Is it just me or is it hotter here?"
I had the answer to my question when the metal of the ceiling turned red and orange, suddenly a gigantic red magic beam blasted a hole in the ceiling, and melted the walkway below.
The beam was so powerful that it split and boiled the water below, raising a cloud of steam. I got up off the ground, waving my hand to ward off the clouds.
"What the hell was that?"
"NEPTUNE! WHERE ARE YOU?!?"
"Forget it, I have my answer!"
I took a distance and ran towards the hole made in the walkway, when I got to the edge, I took a big leap and got to the other side, then kept running. I went through another door and saw a path full of signs of struggle.
I passed by more destroyed robots and turrets, but as I progressed the installation changed, the floor was covered with a red carpet, the walls were covered with curtains and colored fabrics, golden chandeliers were on the ceiling, illuminating the place, robots were placed in positions of statues.
One of them held a lying robot in its arms, another robot pointed its sword upwards, and a third robot was kneeling on the ground, extending its hands upwards.
I reached the end of the hall and to my left there was a large staircase, the stairs were covered with a golden carpet, at the end of the hall in front of me, there was a statue of a robot pointing towards the stairs.
"Looks like Neptune awaits us." Jekyll spoke.
"Do you have any plans? Because I don't want to break in through the front door."
"I found you! I'm surprised you two got this far. Unfortunately, I will have to eliminate both of you. That damn Zon is giving me more trouble than I expected. So as God-King of Atlantis, I sentence you two to death!"
When Neptune finished speaking, the eyes of the robots serving as statues lit up. A strong red light shone from the eye that was in the center of their faces. Wasting no time, I ran through the stairs and reached a large hall with marble columns.
A large golden chandelier hung from the ceiling, in the center of the hall there was a metal statue representing Neptune as he appeared inside the train, there were no walls in the hall, but large glass screens overlooking the bottom of the sea where I saw fish and other marine animals and marble pillars dividing the screens.
Moreover, across the hall, there was a giant metal door with N.E.P.T.U.N.E written on it.
With a loud metallic noise, the door opened sideways and a flying machine appeared, it looked like a metallic disk with a red light in front, the machine flew towards me with an annoying buzz.
Then with a flash of red light, the image of Neptune appeared in front of me, but I could see right through it. Slowly I extended my hand and was surprised when it went straight through Neptune.
"You dare? Trying to touch my wonderful form! I didn't give you this right. I grace you with my presence and this is how you repay me?"
"Ignore him Hyde. This is a hologram, just an image; Neptune is not in front of you." Jekyll spoke.
"I noticed, but it's still weird, I'm getting tired of seeing things I don't understand." I said annoyed.
"You are ignoring me? How daring! I intended to give you two the wonderful view of my person before I gave you two a painless death, after all you did amuse me a little today. But now I'm not so sure about it…" Neptune slammed his trident down on the ground.
From the ceiling, four turrets appeared, each between the marble columns at the sides of the hall. Then Neptune pointed his trident in our direction, flying machines came from the big door across the hall. As if that wasn't enough I heard a sound of footsteps behind me, looking back I saw the robots coming up the stairs.
I prepared Beast Bain; simultaneously Jekyll left my body with his ax in hand.
"You take care of the robots and I'll take care of the turrets and drones."
"Drones?"
"The flying machines."
"Right!"
"Attack!"
CRASH!
"NEPTUNE!"
"I am busy here!" Neptune yelled down the hall, his hologram disappearing shortly after.
The robots advanced and the turrets pointed their lights at us as well. I'll have to fight to get out of here alive.
The first robot started its attack, it ran towards me, its metallic steps echoing through the hall, it tried to pierce me in the stomach with its sword, I jumped to the left, dodging its attack, but the robot swung its sword to the right, trying to cut.
I took a step back, making the robot slash the air with a silver flash of his sword. Taking advantage of the opening, I lifted Beast Bain and slashed the robot across the chest from top to bottom, the sword gliding through the metal like a hot knife through butter.
With little resistance, wires and metal were thrown to the ground with a loud creak, the robot raised its sword again, trying to cut me in the neck, I immediately ducked, making the robot cut the air, I could feel the wind of the blow passing over my head.
When the robot's attack ended, I got up and slashed the robot's stomach from right to left, then slashed its chest from left to right, with a finishing slash; I spun Beast Bain above my head, hitting the robot's neck.
Each strike made a loud crack, similar to a blacksmith hammering a sword.
The metal offered some resistance, but applying a little more strength, the robot's head was separated from its body, leaving a mass of wires on the stump of the neck, the robot's head fell off the ground with a loud noise.
I saw a red light shining in the corner of my eye. It was a turret to my right, I was ready to get out of there, but suddenly a blade of darkness cut the air, hitting the turret in a black blur. With an explosion that blew a hole in the ceiling, what was left of the turret fell to the ground with a crash.
Glancing back, I saw Jekyll fighting the drones. A trio of drones chased Jekyll across the hall, but the SHADE skidded across the floor, its form looking like a mass of darkness.
The drones fired projectiles at Jekyll, but he dodged them easily, suddenly Jekyll stopped, causing the drones to pass over him, then Jekyll returned to his physical form, sticking his ax in the lower area of one of the drones.
The other drones turned and advanced towards Jekyll while shooting, some projectiles hit Jekyll, creating spurts of blood, but the holes made in his body closed soon after.
As the drones approached, Jekyll swung his ax, hurling the trapped drone at the others. The three drones collided in mid-air, the impact being so strong that it turned them into a metal ball in the air that exploded shortly after.
My eyes widened and my mouth dropped to the floor. Is he that strong? I had to stop my train of thought as more robots approached.
Two robots appeared, one of them carrying a spear and the other carrying two daggers. The robot with the spear was the first to act. He ran towards me, the spear pointed towards my heart; simultaneously a red light was pointed in my direction.
I ignored the robot and ran towards the statue of Neptune, taking cover in the lower left side of the statue, since the turret that was in that area was destroyed.
The projectiles hit the metal statue, with a shower of cracks and sparks, metal fragments were thrown away, then a drone flew over my head and hit the turret that was in the upper left area of the hall.
Looking to where the drone came from, I saw Jekyll slicing a drone in two with his ax, and then stretching his arm to grab a drone in mid-flight, the drone tried to shoot Jekyll, but he held the drone under his arm and pointed to the lower right turret of the hall.
Then Jekyll forced the drone to fire at the turret, the torrent fired back but Jekyll moved out of the way, still aiming the drone, the turret left a line of holes in the ground but failed to hit its target, eventually the metal of the turret could take no more and exploded in a hail of metal.
Jekyll threw the drone to the ground and slashed it repeatedly with his ax.
With that resolved, I returned to the advancing robots. The robot with the daggers tried to hit me with swift blows, I was forced to be on the defensive, blocking blow after blow, each one letting out a loud crack.
I blocked a blow coming from above, but immediately forced the robot's arm away, blocking a blow that came from below, turning Beast Bain in my hands; I delivered a blow from below upwards, leaving a large cut in the robot, going from the hip to the shoulder.
The robot was pushed back, but managed to regain its balance and with a blow that I could barely see, it cut my left shoulder, I let out a hiss of pain, but charging towards the robot, I pierced its chest, the tip of my sword coming out.
Now there was only the robot with the spear left. I looked around, but I couldn't find it. I raised my sword and prepared myself, the only thing I heard was the noise of the drones and the last turret firing. Then I heard a metallic noise from behind and above?
Turning around quickly, I saw the robot leaping from the top of the statue of Neptune, its spear pointed downwards, I had little time to act, I took a step back, the spear leaving a gash in my chest, at the same time I raised my sword, piercing the robot in the chin and the sword tip protruded from the top of its head.
The robot struggled, trying to free itself, but eventually the red light in its eyes went out and the robot stopped moving. Everything seemed to be over, but my joy was short-lived as a cacophony of metallic footsteps came from the stairs leading down to the hall.
More robots appeared, all with weapons at the ready, but before any of them could move forward, a hail of projectiles hit the stairs, tearing the robots apart. I spotted Jekyll holding the turret by the bottom and forcing it towards the stairs.
"How the hell are you still alive?!? Irrelevant! If I can't kill you two then the water will!"
Two drones flew past the group of robots and slammed into the glass on both sides of the hall with an explosion letting the water in; simultaneously the door leading to Neptune began to close.
"Hyde go!" Jekyll yelled as he continued to point the turret at the robots.
Without thinking twice, I ran towards the closing door, the sound of the projectiles stopped, looking at Jekyll, I saw that he pulled the turret from the ceiling and threw it at the robots that were now advancing.
"This thing is out of bullets!"
"What is a bullet?!?"
"No time for that Hyde!"
I kept running, Jekyll was already sliding from the ceiling back to my body, the door was almost closing, running faster and taking a big leap forward, I managed to get through the door before it closed.
Standing up, I took a deep breath, trying to catch my breath, I looked around for more robots but found none, letting out a sigh of relief, I moved on.
"Are you ok?" Jekyll asked.
"Yes. Just a few light cuts. And you? I saw you get hit by the projectiles."
"Don't worry; I'm a lot stronger than I look."
Of this, I am sure, we were in a corridor with a long red carpet, on the walls there were banners with the image of a trident.
"Impressive. No matter how hard I try, you always find a way to survive. Apparently, I'll have to take care of you two personally. Come on then, I'll finish off Zon and you at once. God-King Neptune wishes to have an audience with you."
The door on the other side of the hall opened and a bright light shone in our direction. I slowly walked towards it, preparing myself for whatever is on the other side.
I walked through the light and what I saw on the other side was something out of war stories, we were in a large circular metallic room with a glass dome in place of a ceiling.
The floor and wall were destroyed, worse than the containment area, molten metal craters were scattered everywhere, mountains of destroyed robots and drones were scattered around. The machines looked like a pile of molten metal.
Wires and what looked like lightning protruded from holes in the walls, the metal looked like it had been violently hit by something powerful. There was a gigantic, scalding metal hole in the ground, approaching the hole and looking down; I saw the walkway to the containment area.
Now where are Neptune and Zon?
Suddenly the floor in the center of the room opened into a circular hole, I heard the sound of something metallic moving, and then a large metallic hand came out of the hole, this hand accompanied by another holding a trident, then something pulled itself out of there.
The robot was almost eight feet tall, with long thin, metallic arms and legs, its body covered in metallic armor similar to the smaller robots, but painted blue and with seashell adornments.
It wore a helmet with a fin adornment on top that went all the way to the back. In addition, just below the helm, a single, large red eye glowed. The robot's eye focused on me.
With thunderous footsteps that made the ground shake, the robot approached, and spoke in a familiar voice.
"Welcome to my throne room, forgive me for the mess, but Zon has proven to be more difficult to deal with than I expected." The robot spoke as he twirled the trident in its hand.
Therefore, that was Neptune.
"This is wrong." Jekyll spoke.
"What do you mean?"
"To put it simply, Neptune should be a football-sized metal sphere connected to a bunch of wires and parts."
"Maybe he's inside the robot somewhere?"
"Probably in the torso."
"You know, before I eliminate you, I would like you to answer a question. Who are you?" Neptune pointed its trident at me.
"What do you mean by that?" I was confused.
"Don't play dumb!" Neptune exclaimed as it stomped the ground.
I assumed a fighting stance and raised my sword.
"Do you think it was sheer luck or skill that you lasted this long inside my Atlantis?!? No! I literally cannot use all my defenses against you! My systems want to eliminate you two, but my parameters stop me. All this due to the way you entered! Using a high-ranking, Project Gestalt scientist, key card! How is this possible?!? Are you the son of one of the scientists?!? Did you find the card by pure chance?!? On the other hand, did someone bring you here? The creature that inhabits your body."
"I..."
"Answer me! Where are the humans? Where are the supervisors? What happened to Project Gestalt? Why was I forgotten and abandoned? Left to rust on the ocean floor for all these centuries?"
Neptune grew more erratic, taking a step forward with each question asked, causing the entire room to shake.
Before I could respond, the room began to shake, a series of explosions coming from within the hole where Neptune came out. Then something flew out of the hole at great speed, it looked like a red blur.
When that blur stopped, I saw a crowd of robots covering something in the air, beams of red light flashed through it, and suddenly all the robots were destroyed by a powerful energy blast.
As the light dimmed, I saw something else I didn't understand, but it wasn't the strangest thing I'd seen today. It was a red book about a foot long and eight inches wide.
Its cover adorned in golden metallic ornaments that formed a theater stage with the curtains open and in the center of the adornment was a theater mask with an angry face.
The book looked around before focusing on Neptune, I was about to ask what was going on but was interrupted by something else that made me question reality.
"You useless piece of rust! Walking junk! Piece of metallic shit! Bastard child of a fridge and a washing machine! Glorified junkyard! King of a shitty little town at the bottom of the fucking ocean!"
The book has spoken! In addition, he had the dirtiest mouth I've ever seen in my life. The insults are not directed at me and I feel offended. I snapped out of my surprise when Neptune leaned back and let out a roar of fury.
"AAAAHHH! Enough! To hell with it! I'll tear these pages out of yours one by one! Moreover, you, intruder! I'm going to rip this creature from your cold, dead body so I can find out what's going on here! I'll find out what happened to the humans! I'll find out why I was left here! And when I'm done, I'm going after the damn supervisors who filled me with lies!"
"Hahaha! You can't imagine how long I've waited for this, you damn piece of metal!" The book responded.
Then the book opened. Its pages flipped as a red glow ran through them, I felt the room getting hotter and saw red energy building up in the book, and then the book released a powerful beam of energy towards Neptune.
Neptune took a mighty leap out of the way, leaving his footprints in the metallic floor; he landed across the room with a crash followed by a shudder. The place where the robot was previously was destroyed by the book's attack, leaving a hole of boiling metal that went down to the lower floors.
"Jekyll! Is that Zon?"
The SHADE didn't respond.
"Jekyll?" I called out to him again but got no answers, all I heard was Jekyll muttering something.
"Zon... 13th Crusade... Crusaders... Grimoires... Zon... Zon... Zon... Penultimate to die... So much rage... Overwhelmed with rage... A brutal ending..."
"JEKYLL!"
"What?" Jekyll replied, out of his reverie.
"Are you ok? I called you, but you were ignoring me."
"Yes… Don't worry… Zon is ahead of us. Let's finish off Neptune and get out of here."
Hm... He's not telling me the truth, but we have more important things to do right now.
I saw Neptune swinging its trident above its head, lightning raced down the handle of the weapon, making a buzzing sound through the air, and then it pointed the trident at Zon, releasing a white lightning equal to that of a storm cloud.
Zon returned Neptune's attack with his own, a beam of red energy collided with Neptune's attack in the center of the room creating a huge explosion followed by a cloud of smoke.
The cloud dispersed thanks to a series of red energy orbs fired by Zon. Neptune spun its trident, using it to deflect the orbs. Zon's attack ripped through the room around us, blasting holes in the floor and wall with small explosions.
Nevertheless, I almost had a heart attack when I saw one of the spheres going upwards, hitting the glass dome, when the explosion dissipated the dome looked fine, but my eyes widened when a crack formed in it and water began to come in.
"Better stop those two before they kill us all." Jekyll spoke.
"I couldn't agree more!" I replied as I ran towards Neptune.
However, as I approached. The right side of Neptune's back opened and a contraption went up on its shoulder, then I saw a red light pointed at my face. This light was on top of a metallic cylinder full of holes and connected to this cylinder was a type of metallic band made of pointed objects.
"Don't think I forgot about you!" Neptune exclaimed.
Then the cylinder spun and I knew what was coming. When I saw the line of projectiles hitting the ground and coming straight towards me, I dodged to the left, but the turret followed me.
Luckily, I dodged and closed in on Neptune, with a war cry; I swung my sword at its leg, only for the sword to bounce off his armor, throwing my arms back.
"That's it? I expected more from those who made it this far!" Neptune responded as he pulled his leg back and tried to kick me. I rolled to the right, dodging the blow, when I finished, I heard Jekyll speaking.
"Hyde! Try again!"
I saw my arms covered in darkness and bright yellow lines. I took advantage of Neptune recovering from its blow and struck its leg again, with some resistance the sword cut the metal, releasing sparks and throwing fragments of Neptune's body away, leaving a large cut in its armor.
"How? My beautiful armor! How dare you harm the God-King… AAAHHH!" Neptune didn't finish, because in its moment of distraction Zon hit it with several energy spheres.
"Don't you ever get tired of babbling in that annoying voice of yours?!? Do you like to hear yourself talk by any chance?!? Because all I see is a desktop computer trying to compensate for something!" Zon yelled, hurling insult after insult.
Neptune regained its balance, fists clenched and body shaking with rage. The glow from Neptune's eye intensified, then...
"AAAHHH!" With a scream of rage, a red beam shot out of Neptune's eye and hit Zon pinning him against the wall, the metal began to melt into orange goo.
"That's all you got you piece of shit?!? Fuck you! My grandmother hits harder than you do! AAAHHH!" Zon exclaimed as hot metal covered his form.
Wasting no time I advanced towards Neptune, the turret pointed at me again, Jekyll left my body from the torso upwards and swung his ax sending a blade of darkness towards Neptune.
The attack hit the robot, destroying its turret and making it stagger to the side, stopping its attack, but the blow made Neptune jerk his head up, hitting the glass dome.
The cracks grew and more water came in.
Neptune turned towards us and advanced with its trident raised, it thrust the trident, I jumped back and Neptune's blow pierced the ground, opening a hole in the metal.
Neptune attacked relentlessly, blow after blow, it tried to hit us, then it swung the trident above its head and tried to hit us sideways. It took us by surprise. I blocked the blow with Beastbain, I felt like my bones were going to break.
My feet skidded across the floor; we almost crossed the room, when suddenly I heard the sound of metallic footsteps followed by a tremor. I saw Neptune running toward us as he twirled its trident, lightning building in the weapon.
Then Neptune jumped and fell with the trident pointed at us.
"Holy shit!" I ran immediately.
When Neptune landed, the entire room shook and creaked, the glass above us cracked. However, the worst came when the weapon covered in lightning hit the water that flooded the room. Agonizing pain raced through my body, but it disappeared and was replaced by another as Neptune hit me in the side with the blunt of its trident.
I know Jekyll made me stronger, but I still hurt as hell, I fell with my back on the floor. I felt something running down my tongue, taking my hand to my mouth, I saw blood mixed with a black and yellow liquid.
With heavy steps, Neptune approached us with its trident raised and pointed at us.
"Just accept your execution. It will only hurt for a moment."
Then Neptune brought down its trident. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the pain, but it never came. I heard a metallic noise and when I opened my eyes, I saw Jekyll blocking the trident with the handle of his ax.
"Don't worry Hyde! I'm already healing your wounds! Sorry for the wait, but it took me a while to reorganize my thoughts."
"You! Creature! Answer me! Where are the humans? How did you get the key card?" Neptune exclaimed as it applied more strength, bringing Jekyll to one knee.
"I was part of the Project... The project..."
"Is that your answer? A lot of buzzing and hissing?"
"Hyde! It can't understand me!" Jekyll screamed as he thrust his ax aside, deflecting Neptune's blow and pinning the trident to the ground.
With its blow parried, Neptune glared at Jekyll, energy started to build up in its eye, I got up immediately and ran towards Neptune, and I saw my arms covered in darkness again.
As I approached, I took a big leap, and swung my sword towards Neptune's head, with a noise like a bell. The sword cut the helmet and the side of the robot's head.
The attack served its purpose, causing Neptune to move its head and miss Jekyll, the beam leaving a line of molten metal on the floor and part of the wall to our right.
When I landed, I realized what I had done. I jumped higher than any normal human could. Looking down at my legs, I glimpsed bright yellow lines on them. I did it alone?
"Hyde! We need to end this soon! This place won't be standing for long!" Jekyll screamed.
And he was right, more water was seeping through the ceiling, and the walls weren't in the best condition, cracks were forming and water was running in.
Wasting no time we ran after Neptune, the robot recovered from my attack and pointed the trident in our direction, sending a wave of lightning. Jekyll and I got out of the way, going in opposite directions.
Jekyll was the first to face Neptune, he swung his ax towards the robot's chest, Neptune blocked the blow with the handle of its trident, but while it was busy, I approached and made a big cut on its left leg.
Neptune parried Jekyll's ax to the side and turned toward me, raising the trident above its head and trying to crush me with the blunt part of the weapon.
I rolled out of the way and Neptune's blow raised a jet of water as it hit the ground. It raised its trident again and tried to pierce me, but before it could do so, Jekyll slashed across its back.
I saw metal and sparks fly away as a large chunk of Neptune's back fell to the ground with a loud splash. For a moment, Neptune's eye went out and looked like he would fall, but the robot recovered, the light in its eye returning to life.
Neptune raised its trident, lightning building up and pierced the metal floor with it, and then the pain returned.
"AAAHHH!" Jekyll and I screamed as lightning raced through the water and hit our bodies; it was agonizing, it felt like my blood was boiling and my flesh was burning.
Jekyll, on the other hand, changed erratically, he lost his humanoid appearance only to regain it soon after and lose it again.
My vision was getting darker, I felt weaker, and I think that was it. Hey! I guess my dream was just a dream in the end. When I was about to accept my fate, I saw a red light out of the corner of my eye.
The spot where Zon had been covered in molten metal exploded, a gigantic red bolt streaking across the room, splitting the incoming water and hitting Neptune with full force, pinning it against the wall beside us.
"It's not so funny when it happens to you, isn't it you bastard?!?" Zon screamed as he broke out of his prison, molten metal falling from his body and creating clouds of steam as it hit the ground.
I breathed heavily with that moment of relief, the light returned to my vision, but it was hard for me to move my body.
"Hyde… Hyde…" Looking to the side, I saw Jekyll dragging himself towards me.
I reached out my hand to him, Jekyll crawled up my arm and back into my body, I immediately started to feel better, forget about it, I felt great, powerful.
"Jekyll, what are you doing?" I asked as I got up.
"Making us stronger. Instead of strengthening just one part of your body, I am strengthening everything." Jekyll replied.
Everything? I saw my reflection in the water, for a moment I recoiled in surprise, my face was covered in darkness with bright yellow lines, I looked like a mixture of a SHADE and a human, and I had no face, just two bright yellow eyes.
My neck, arms and legs were in the same situation, covered in darkness and bright lines.
It was wonderful, I felt so strong, so powerful, and I felt like I could do whatever I wanted, I wanted more…
"Hyde! Focus!"
"Jekyll?" I looked around for the SHADE.
"Concentrate, Hyde!"
"What is happening?"
"We are fused more than before, it makes us stronger but it puts a lot of pressure on our bodies. You need to concentrate. Hyde, or your mind will be consumed and I will have complete control over your body."
"WHAT?!?"
"It's not something I can control! Get rid of Neptune and let's get out of here!"
With a mass of darkness, Jekyll's ax appeared in my left hand, dark energy coating the ax's blade. I picked Beastbain up from the ground with my right hand, and as soon as my hand touched the hilt of the sword, flames covered it.
"Is this magic?"
"MASO!" Jekyll screamed loud enough to make me wince.
"MASO? Hm… Interesting… I wonder what else I can do with it…"
Zon's attack stopped and Neptune removed its body from the wall, its armor was in tatters, molten metal oozed from its body and wires were hanging out.
"This isn't over… I need to know… I need to know how you got Dr.ndfjncj's card…"
I didn't understand what Neptune said, the name came out as a mixture of hisses, for a moment the world disappeared, and I was in a white room full of machines and equipment similar to what I saw in the rooms of the installation.
Then the world returned to normal and I saw Neptune swinging its trident towards me, it moved slowly, almost stopping, very slowly. I swung the ax toward the trident, leaving a slash of darkness in the air. When the two weapons collided, the world disappeared again.
I went back to the room, I saw a man on the other side, he was wearing a long white coat and had his back to me, he didn't turn around, but he must have been old by the gray color of his hair. The man appeared to be working with something on top of a large metal table.
I was facing Neptune again, its trident snapped in two, the piercing part of the weapon flew through the air and stuck into the ground beside us. Neptune pulled its fist back and tried to punch me, I swung Beastbain towards it, the sword leaving a trail of fire in the air.
I was in the room again. The man seemed to have finished his work. He got up and turned around while holding something in his hands, even so, I couldn't see his face, there was a mass of white cubes covering it. However, I saw what the man was holding.
A metal sphere with white letters on it. N.E.P.T.U.N.E. With a metallic clang, a door behind us opened, illuminating the room with a blinding light, looking towards the source of it. I saw two people on the other side of the door, just like the man, I couldn't see their faces.
"Doctor, it's time to go." The two people spoke at the same time, they were female voices.
"I understand." The man answered.
Neptune held its severed arm with its other hand as it dropped to its knees, it stared at me and I saw energy building up in its eye. I don't know how to explain it, but I closed the distance between us in a blur, throwing jets of water to both sides.
I stopped a few centimeters from Neptune, stared at its face for some time. It may have been just me, but looked like Neptune recoiled in surprise, I gave him a slight poke on its forehead.
"BOOP!"
So I plunged Beastbain into the underside of its head, the tip of the sword protruding from the top of its helm, I ripped the sword from its head, pulled it back and pierced its eye, the glow in Neptune's eye intensified. I immediately ran away and the world sped up again.
I hyperventilated as I clutched my chest. What was that? I felt great and now I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack!
"Get out of the way, brat!" A voice shouted behind me.
Turning around I saw Zon preparing for another attack, I immediately got out of the way, just in time to dodge a rain of red spheres that hit Neptune, and a wave of explosions in sequence covered the robot.
I saw large pieces of metal and armor, arm and legs flying everywhere, when the dust settled, little was left of Neptune, only his torso was standing, sparks and lightning ran through its body.
"ERROR! CRITICAL DAMAGE TO ALL SYSTEMS! INITIATING SELF-REPAIRS… ERROR! IMPOSSIBLE TO START SELF-REPAIR! What did you do?!? This can't be the end of me! I need to know! I need to know!"
Zon and I approached what was left of Neptune, the front part of its torso falling, revealing a metallic orb with letters on top.
"It's over Neptune. You lost." I spoke to the AI.
"Humph! So how do you feel, you piece of junk?!? Knowing that this is the end of you?!? Are you afraid? Cold? How does it feel to know that death is approaching?" Zon exclaimed, spewing a string of insults.
"Hahaha! I may be dying, but at least I'll take you with me, we'll all go down with my beautiful Atlantis. STARTING SELF-DESTRUCTION."
Then the whole facility shook, worse than when Zon tried to escape.
"Alert! Self-destruct initiated! Please evacuate the facility!" A voice echoed throughout the place.
"You bastard! Stop it now!" Zon yelled as he readied another attack.
"And why should I? I already lost everything."
"Jekyll, let's get out of here!"
"Not yet, I need to do one more thing." Jekyll spoke as he left my body and crouched in front of Neptune.
"What do you want, creature? Here to brag about your victory?"
Jekyll didn't speak, he took out his key card, held it in front of Neptune, pointed at the card and then at himself repeatedly. Neptune was silent, and then began to laugh. On the other hand, was he crying?
"Hahaha! Doctor! Doctor! It's been a long time! You came back! I'm not alone. I… Not… I am not… Alone… I…"
Neptune was silent, whatever light left in its body fading.
Jekyll got up and walked back to my body.
"Jekyll?"
"Let's get out of here." Jekyll replied.
BOOM!
CRASH!
"You two can die here if you want, but I'm getting out of here!" Zon yelled as he prepared to attack the door Jekyll and I entered.
"No! This place is flooded!" I yelled at the book.
"Then how do we get out of here?!?" Zon asked sarcastically.
I remembered the hole Zon made in the ground, leading down to the lower levels, and I ran toward the hole as Zon followed.
"Follow me!" I screamed as I jumped into the hole, I fell a few stories, but before I hit the water below, Jekyll's hand left my back, grabbing the edge of the broken walkway.
"Hm… That thing on your body seems to be helping you. Is he your pet?" Zon asked as he floated beside me.
"We don't have time for this!" I answered while running. A tremor followed by a loud metallic crack almost made me fall, the wall beside us gave way, letting in the water.
We went through the metal door and reached the containment area, but as we ran I saw a huge wave of water coming towards us, we ran even faster, reaching the stairs.
Jekyll reached his arm up, grabbing the stair railing and pulling us up, Zon at our side.
"You seem to know where you are going. Forget it, I have a better question. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE?!?" Zon screamed.
"We came to get you out of here!"
"Oh! I'm flattered, but I don't need your help! I could escape alone if I wanted to!"
"Like all the times you tried and failed to escape?"
"How do you know that?!?"
I ignored Zon and kept running, but the closed metal door in front of us stopped my run.
"Get out of the way!" Zon screamed as he fired a bolt of magic, I threw myself to the ground so I wouldn't be melted alive.
When I got up, I saw a hole in the shape of a perfect circle in the door, passing through the hole of molten metal; Zon repeated the process with all the doors closed in front of us.
We had to dodge furniture sliding across the floor, pieces of ceiling and wall collapsing in our path, meanwhile the infernal noise continued to sound throughout the entire place.
Nevertheless, to our relief, we made it to the entrance to the facility, there was the train waiting for us, the three of us got on it, and Jekyll got this thing going on.
"Doesn't this thing go any faster?!?" Zon screamed.
"I am trying!" Jekyll replied.
"I didn't understand anything when you were walking pile of mud!" Zon replied.
BOOM!
Another explosion rocked the facility, the glass and metal tunnel we were in cracked and water began to pour in.
"Fuck it!" Zon screamed as he headed towards the train door, with one attack he threw the doors out and leaned his body over the edge of the train.
"Brat! Hold me!" Zon screamed.
I did as he told me and held onto Zon with both hands, looking out of the train, I saw the approaching water. Zon opened and energy raced through his pages, my arms shook with the power coursing through the book.
"AAAHHH!" With a scream of rage, Zon shot a colossal beam of magic towards the water, when the attack hit it, the tunnel filled up with a cloud of steam and the water stopped for a while, simultaneously the train propelled, making us go faster.
"Keep it up! We're almost there!"
"AAAAHHH! IT'S EASY FOR YOU TO SAY! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU IN MY PLACE!"
We got to the beginning of the tunnel, but the train was going so fast that it came off the tracks and slammed into the metal wall next to the elevator; we ignored this and quickly got off the train.
"Jekyll, open that fucking elevator!"
"I am trying!" Jekyll yelled as he swiped the card repeatedly.
"Holy shit! Can you assholes go faster please?!?" Zon said sarcastically.
"Can't you launch another one of your attacks?!?" I yelled at the book.
"Hahaha! I see you finally recognize the power of the great Grimoire Zon! Witness my power!" Zon opened his pages preparing his next attack.
Only for the pages to immediately close and Zon to fall flat on his face with a thud.
"I'm tired." Zon muttered.
Jekyll and I both stare at each other "AAAHHH!"
Fortunately, the elevator doors decided to open at that moment. I grabbed Zon, stepped into the elevator, and the doors closed behind us. Tense minutes passed as the elevator rose, I heard muffled creaks, the elevator light flashed repeatedly as it rocked with each explosion.
Finally, the elevator finished its ascent; as soon as the doors opened, I rushed out of the basement of the lighthouse only to come face to face with the old woman.
"What are you doing here?!?" The old woman screamed.
"Get out of the way, old hag!" I screamed as I pushed her out of the way, I exited the lighthouse and ran into the town while pushing people out of the way.
When I thought I had gained enough distance, I dropped to my knees in the street while raising both hands.
"I SURVIVED! TAKE THIS, DEATH! IN YOUR FACE! I DEFEATED NEPTUNE AND HERE I AM! ALIVE AND…"
BOOM!
A massive explosion followed by a shock wave shook the entirety of the Seafront, shattering all of the city's glass and knocking people to the ground, some falling to the ground clutching their ears. Looking back, I saw a huge jet of water reaching the skies.
"Looks like the facility finally exploded." Jekyll spoke.
Jekyll's words did not bring me any relief, for as the jet of water began to descend; a huge wave came towards the Seafront followed by pieces of flaming metal from the facility falling from the sky.
"Holy shit! What are you doing standing there! Run Hyde! Run!" Jekyll's screams made my brain turn on, without losing time, I held Zon to my chest and ran home.
Meanwhile the people of Seafront screamed, fleeing the waves and the pieces of metal that came from the sky.
